Conserving Biodiversity

The entire estate is comprised of 1,882 acres. Land distribution is as follows:

40.88%, equivalent to 769.40 acres, is dedicated to the production of coffee. Coffee is planted from 2,900 ft above sea level, all the way up to 5,300 ft.

5.88%, equivalent to 110.70 acres, is dedicate to the production of macadamia nuts.

Approximately 1.32% of the entire estate, equivalent to 25.00 acres has been allocated to infrastructure including roads, buildings, bridges, etc. Approximately 20 kms of roads have been built in the past six years.

A 10 acre Eucalyptus forest, approximately .54% of the entire estate, was established during the year 2002.

The rest of the estate is maintained as a natural forest. This natural forest which encompasses 51.3% of the entire estate, is protected by law, and is dedicated to the enhancement of biological diversity.

It is important to take into account the fact that the natural forest, the macadamia trees, and the nitrogen-fixing shade trees provide a much needed habitat for migratory birds.
